Kulathur (06-08-2020): Another accident occurred at Kazhakoottam Attinkuzhi bypass junction where the elevated highway is under construction. This time a large gas tanker was involved in the accident. The accident was averted as the tanker was empty. The incident took place on the morning of 05-08-2020. A Tamil Nadu registered tanker lorry traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to Kollam broke the barricades set up by a construction company and crashed into a nearby girder. The driver and the cleaner sustained minor injuries. The iron fence that blocked the road was smashed and then crashed into the finished girder. Part of the girder was damaged by the impact of the thunder. From the beginning of the construction, the main road was closed and the service to Kazhakoottam was arranged through the service road. The locals say that if adequate safety walls are not built in this area, there will be more accidents.
